The Australian Cross Country Championships returned to its traditional best in 2022 for its 82nd instalment, with a wet and wild course at Oakbank, South Australia awaiting over 1200 of the nation’s distance running diehards – from Olympians through to 10-year-olds from the region.
St George District had five representatives:
Olivia Kalamvokis competed in the Girls 11 years 3km placing 5th and proudly walking away with a gold medal in the Australian Teams Race and two days later represented in the Australian Schools Relay Team again walking away with the gold medal.
Owen Lovell-Ward competed in the Boys 11 years 3km placing 14th and proudly walking away with a gold medal in the Australian Teams Race and two days later represented in the Australian Schools Relay Team and walking away with the silver team medal.
Mia Bridgeland competed in the Girls U14 years 3km and placed 18th and Milly Gage placed 26th in the Girls U15 years 4km race.
Keira Bauer competed in the Girls U17 years 4km placing 25th and two days later represented in the Australian Schools Relay Team proudly walking away with a team bronze medal.
